A working zivania still brings the grape harvest into focus at Alona’s autumn celebration. On Sunday 25 October, from 10:30 to 15:30, visitors can head to the village centre to watch the traditional distillation process and explore the local-product stalls. Zivania tasting is accompanied by Pitsilia’s cured meats, including chiromeri, lountza and Cypriot sausages. Folk music and dance performances give the gathering its village-festival atmosphere. The current festival announcement also lists a local market and re-enactments of harvesting and grape stomping. Alona is in the mountainous Pitsilia region. Admission and individual tasting or product prices have not been confirmed; check with the community before travelling. If you plan to taste zivania, arrange a driver or return transport beforehand.
