The destination

The most cosmopolitan city on the island

Illustrated map of Cyprus with Limassol highlighted

Limassol sits on the southern coast and is the island’s second largest urban area. It runs on contrast: a working old port and Saripolou square on one side, a super-yacht marina and high-rise towers on the other.

Above the city are the wine villages of the district — Omodos, Lofou, Vouni, Lania — and west along the coast are Kourion’s Roman theatre and Kolossi’s medieval keep. Local tradition holds that Richard the Lionheart married Berengaria of Navarre in the castle here in 1191.
