If you see smoke or fire in Troodos, call 112 immediately
In the centre of the island, the Troodos mountains are its greenest landscape — pine forest, shaded trails and cool air that feels a long way from the coast. Mount Olympus, the high point, reaches 1,952 metres.
It is a region for slow travel: scenic drives, waterfall walks at Caledonia and Millomeris, painted Byzantine churches on the UNESCO list, wine villages, and enough snow most winters to change the whole picture. Every season shows a different mountain.
