About the event
This full three-act Don Quixote places the classical ballet against the walls of Paphos Medieval Castle. The story follows Kitri and the barber Basilio as they try to outmanoeuvre her father, with Cervantes’ wandering knight caught up in their escapes and celebrations. Krzysztof Nowogrodzki’s Maribor production draws on the Gorsky tradition, preserving the work’s Spanish colour, comedy and demanding choreography—including the celebrated grand pas de deux—while giving Cyprus its first full-scale staging of the ballet.
