Seven routes through family wineries, mountain vineyards and the villages behind Cyprus wine.
Wine has shaped the foothills and mountain villages of Cyprus for centuries. Today, small wineries offer a direct way to understand the island’s native grapes, changing elevations and long tradition of family production.
Commandaria is the historic reference point: a sweet wine made from sun-dried Xynisteri and Mavro grapes in a defined group of villages on the southern slopes of the Troodos range.

Planning a tasting
Many wineries are small and visits may be by appointment. Contact them before setting out, allow time for mountain roads, and choose a limited part of one route rather than rushing between districts.
Omodos, Vouni, Koilani, Lofou, Panagia, Kathikas, Kyperounta and Lefkara are among the villages that can anchor a wine-route day, with very different landscapes and nearby places to explore.
